The name Posy derives from the French word for poem-poésie. Posy rings were popular gifts in 15th-17th century England. They were inscribed on the interior of the bands, so that only the wearer (and giver) would know what was written.
Their inscriptions expressed sentiments of love, friendship, fidelity, and faith and they often included an identifiable marker's mark, much like my unique makers Hallmark today (ML).
I have made a modern day Posy ring and chose my favourite historic inscription in old English 'I LIKE MY CHOYCE' which is inscribed onto the inside of the band. Perhaps this phrase was once inscribed on a lovers ring to signify they made a good choice. However in my modern day version, I see this as a personal message to signify your choices in life. A positive personal message to remind you that you can trust your own intuition and feel confident in the life choices that you make and will make in the future.
It is hallmarked on the inside of the band at Birmingham's Assay office and comes with an authenticity hallmark card, detailing the marks and their meaning.

Silver: Solid sterling silver.
Gold: Solid sterling silver - plated in responsibly sourced and ethical 24ct Gold.
My gold pieces are classed as Vermeil, this means that the base metal is Sterling Silver and there has been 2.5 microns of 24ct gold deposited on its surface. I plate my rings to 5 microns as they see more wear and tear.
Vermeil gold is the hardest wearing gold plate as it has such a high minimum deposit required. However it will still naturally fade over time, especially in high pressure areas such as where the jump ring sits on the chain. Please read how to prolong the life of your gold jewellery here. I offer a re-plating service which you can find out about here.
Pieces are usually dispatched within 1-3 days. For any urgent orders please contact me through the contact page prior to ordering to discuss faster delivery options.
