Morgan: 'Being constant is to be firm and steadfast in resolution, you might describe an old friend as a constant if they’ve always been there for you. Running can feel like an old friend, a constant in the way it lets you carve out space for your mind and body to feel alive or to put physical distance between you and any trials from that day, month, year. A constant way to make sure you sit with the elements each season, embracing discomfort, dark evenings and solitude. Anything can be a constant, gardening, hiking, crafting things. Wear this jewellery on your wrist or footwear and with every step show up for whatever that thing is that makes you feel alive and connected to the world around you - be constant.'
This collaboration came about through friendship and a synergy of ideas dreamt up one day on an inspiring call. Morgan and I have worked together for years, she is mostly behind the camera and has bought to life the essence of my collections through her photography.
Morgan is a runner and creative, often combining the two, and had a desire to bring jewellery into her weekly running rituals. She wanted to create a piece that inspired her to 'be constant' with her commitment to the practice whilst also being a unique way to celebrate and customise her favourite running shoes, or any shoes for that matter.
The inscriptions for this piece were taken from Old English writings on Posy Rings
which were popular gifts in Medieval England. The inscriptions were sentiments
of love, friendship, fidelity and faith or simply a motto to live by. Inscribed on the inside of a band so that only the giver and the wearer knew the message and meaning.
We designed the Lace Plaque to have a hidden inscription in old English on the back; be trve (true) to the end. A secret message to yourself to keep going to the end, whether its a race or motivation to do something in life that is a challenge. The Plaque also features my signature Lioness with here floral mane an emblem of strength and beauty.
DETAILS
Be Constant Lace Plaque with Lioness. The reverse features the inscription; Be trve to the end, which sits above the hallmark plaque. It comes on a 1 meter sari silk ribbon. If you don't want to lace it into your trainer, you can tie around your wrist or neck.
My Lioness is a positive talisman, she represents strength, individuality, confidence, equality, beauty and identity.
It is hallmarked on the back and comes with an authenticity hallmark card, detailing the marks and their meaning.
